Brenda Wofford

Brenda Fay Wofford was born on March 22, 1952 to the late Ann Covington and Bill Africa in Fuquay, North Carolina. Brenda, known as Fay, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 29, 2019 at 2:50 am at the Sarah Neumann - The New Jewish Home in Mamaroneck, NY.

Fay worked as a Candy Striper in Knickerbocker Hospital in Harlem. She then went on to pursue a career in Home Health Care. She provided care to the ones she loved for several years until she was unable and had to retire at an early age due to her health.  Fay could not just sit at home so she started babysitting her grandkids and many others who were close to her and became known as “grandma” to everyone.

She met and married Franklin Andrew Wofford in 1979. They were inseparable and loved their life and children. She loved the challenge of crossword puzzles and love to smile and have fun. Although she was a loving mother and a great friend to everyone, she also had a reputation not to mess with her.

Preceding her in death is her husband Franklin Andrew Wofford, her mother Ann Covington, her father Bill Africa and brother Howard Williams.

Brenda leaves behind her only son Anthony Lamont Covington Sr., two stepchildren Andrew Wofford and Kellie Wofford, two grandchildren Anthony Lamont Covington Jr and Selena Kasmir Covington, 4 step grandchildren Keisha, Trien Shuan, and Sheldon, and a host of cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 2 to 3 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.  Funeral services will be Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 3 PM in the funeral home.  The Rev. Norman Graves will officiate.
