Jurgen “Marty” Franzen of Roscoe, NY, a retired welder and foreman for LILCO on Long Island, NY and a long time area resident died Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. He was 76.
The son of the late John and Marie Beck Franzen, he was born November 16, 1941 in New York City, NY.
Marty proudly served Our Country in the US Army from 1961 to 1964; he was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Obernberg, NY; he enjoyed wood working and fishing. Marty volunteered at the local food pantry and was a great neighbor who was always willing to help with other’s projects.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine “JoAnn” Reisert Franzen, at home; one son, John Franzen and his wife Jaclyn of Chattanooga, TN; one daughter, Christine Franzen and her husband Jeremy Smutz of East Hampton, CT; three grandchildren, Kaeli, Hans, and Obin; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad, Avenue Roscoe, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 10:30 AM in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Obernberg, NY. Father George Baker will officiate.
Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery, Shiloh PA.
Memorial contributions in Marty’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
