Lois Duffy

Lois C. Duffy of Liberty NY, a retired finance manager for Time Warner Cable in Liberty and long time area resident, died Thursday, April 12, 2018 at her home in Liberty. She was 74 years old.

The daughter of the late John J., Sr. and Dorothea M. Mallon, she was born February 4, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY. Mrs. Duffy was the widow of Joseph M. Duffy, Jr.

She was Communicant of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Youngsville and secretary of the church council; a member of the White Sulphur Springs Firemen’s Auxiliary and President of the Liberty High School PTA for many years, as well as assistant director of the Silver Masque Players of Brooklyn and White Sulphur Springs.

Lois was a very hard-working woman, sometimes working two or three jobs to take care of her six children after the passing of her wonderful husband. Lois always put others before herself and was always ready to lend a hand or an ear to anyone who needed it. She was an amazing woman who will be missed by many.

She is survived by four grateful daughters: Lois Scamihorn and fiance, Chris Didrich of Liberty, Cara-Lynn O’Brien and her husband, J. Michael of Manhattan, Joana Dutcher of Barryville, Petra Cronk and her husband, Rocky of Liberty; two grateful sons: Michael Duffy and his wife, Kathryn of Burbank, CA, and Christopher Duffy and his wife, Peggy of Vestal; ten grandchildren: Jonathon Scamihorn, Cyrus Duffy, Matthew Dutcher, Andrew Scamihorn, Declan O’Brien, Olivia Duffy, Vivienne O’Brien, Maura Dutcher, Josephine Duffy, Achenne O’Brien, and also survived by a very large extended family.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Friday, April 13 at Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley Liberty, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14 at St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, Route 52, Youngsville, NY. Father Vu will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery Youngsville, NY.

Memorial contributions in Lois’ name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
