Myrtle Salonich

April 13, 1935 — March 5, 2018

Myrtle Salonich

Myrtle Alice Salonich of West Columbia, SC, formerly of Liberty, NY passed away Monday, March 5, 2018 at her home.  She was 82.

The daughter of the late Albert and Myrtle Briggs Lippelt, she was born April 13, 1935 in New York.  Myrtle was a home maker and had worked for the NY Telephone Co. as a switch board operator.

Myrtle lived her final five years in West Columbia, South Carolina surrounded by family and friends. You would always see her helping her son at Steve’s Deli. The girls working at the deli had a special place in her heart. Prior, she lived in Liberty, NY enjoying her time volunteering at the Liberty United Methodist Church, where she was known for making funnel cakes and apple pies. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She was also a member and past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Liberty. Her heart was always into helping out the veterans and the elderly. In her earlier years, she belonged to the Busy Bees Homemakers.

Myrtle’s world evolved around family. Her children were her pride and joy. She always would do without, so her children could have. She lived a simple life. Never asking for anything, Myrtle had the kindest soul and she was the most giving, gentle and caring person; she could never give enough help. “Sweet” is an underestimate of Myrtle’s soul. I bet, if you look up “sweet” in the dictionary, she is part of the definition.

Myrtle is survived by her sons, Stephen Salonich (Elaine), Alexander Salonich (Carmen), and Christopher Salonich; two daughters, Bonnie Carman and Sheila Fix (Robert); her adoring grandchildren, Jeffrey Carman, Karilee Klopman, Jackie Carman, Sarah Osborne, Joshua Salonich, Stephen Salonich, Whitney Cliff, Emily Salonich, Tifanny Valero, Cassandra Evans, Matthew Salonich, Alexander Salonich, Tyler Salonich, Jordan Salonich, Robert Fix III, and Thomas Fix. In addition, she is survived by seven great grandchildren. Myrtle had many nieces and nephews that were also dear to her heart.

Myrtle was predeceased by her husband Alexander Salonich; her siblings, Hilda, Albert (Sonny), Bertha, Caroline, Clarence (Herb), Henry, Raymond, and John. She also is predeceased by a past companion, Clarence Huebsch.
