Richard David Horton, “Dave” of Horton, NY died on Friday, February 22nd, 2019 at O’Connor Hospital, Delhi NY. He was 86.

The son of the late Andrew Charles Horton and Mary Evelyn Nevin-Horton, he was born July 15, 1932 in Hancock, NY and was the oldest of three children. He married M. Catherine Deighton, December 24th, 1958 in Walton, NY. He was a farmer and logger as a young man. In his 20s, he worked in the mine shaft in Horton, NY, which was built to supply water to N.Y.C. He later worked in construction of Route 17 for the union as well as in the construction of the Roscoe Nursing Home. He also worked for Eustance and Horowitz as an inspector and for BOCES as a custodian. He was a long time active member of East Branch Community Church, East Branch, NY.

Survivors include his wife M. Catherine Horton of Batavia, NY; his oldest daughter, Martha Horton and husband Roy Beam of Batavia, NY, his son, Robert Horton and wife Theresa of Orlando, FL, his youngest daughter, Carol Ann Whitman and husband Tobin of Binghamton, NY; one sister, Margaret Babcock of Roscoe, NY; as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, his daughter Sharon Horton- White in 1997 and his brother Arthur Horton in January 2019.

Memorial services will be Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 11 AM in the Horton Brook Free Methodist Church in Roscoe, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
