Sadie Pearl Kushner of Clifton Park, NY and a longtime area resident of Liberty, NY died Monday March 12, 2018 at Saratoga Hospital, Saratoga Springs, NY. She was 98. The daughter of the late Hyman and Celia (Birinbaum) Kushner she was born December 10, 1919 in New York City, NY.
Sadie was an adored sister, aunt and friend. She loved life and took delight in seeing the first birds and flowers each spring. She was an avid dancer and loved the arts and music. She grew up on her family farm in Parksville, NY in an area known then as Krum Settlement. Sadie was a natural beauty. In 1938 her picture was entered in a Hollywood magazine photo contest, was judged by the late Bob Hope and won publication. She gained nation-wide recognition from that photo and was offered a modeling contract. Sadie began a career as a dental nurse in the late 1930’s for the late Dr. Richard Hartman in Liberty, NY and worked for several other dentists in New York City. In the 1960’s she began a career in the fashion industry with the Betty Cohen Company in New York City. She retired as assistant buyer in 1984. She was a member of Congregation Tifereth Israel Anshei Parksville in Parksville, NY and Congregation Beth Israel in New York City. She is survived by her brother Nathan “Sonny” Kushner of Oregon and many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by four sisters Anna, Fay (Fiddle), Frances (Sabloff) and Miriam and three brothers, Charles, Max and Julius Kushner.
Her terrific personality, warm affection and beauty will be deeply missed.
Graveside service will be held at Congregation Tifereth Israel Anshei Parksville Cemetery in Parksville, NY on March 15, at 1PM.
