Alfred "Fred" Sorge

Alfred Sorge of North Branch, NY a retired mechanic and driver at Gershowitz Bus Company, Liberty, NY and a long-time area resident died Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Garnet Health Medical Center, Middletown, NY. He was 81.

The son of the late Robert and Mary Kern Sorge, he was born July 3, 1943 in Manhattan, NY.

Fred proudly served our country in the US Army from 1965-1967; he was a member of the Callicoon Center Fire Department for 49 years; a member of the Callicoon Center Schuetzen Verien; and a former member of the Liberty Elks Lodge # 1545.

Survivors include his son, Michael Sorge and his wife Jolene of Callicoon Center, NY; one stepdaughter, Lorena Peters of North Branch, NY; his longtime friend and companion, Meta Sorge of North Branch, NY; and his nephew, Rob Sorge of FL.   He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Robert Sorge. 

A memorial service will be Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 11 AM at the Callicoon Center Fire Department, Callicoon Center, NY. Pastor Virginia Bossley will officiate.
