Allan "Hank" Kehrley of Liberty, NY passed away Friday, July 25, 2025 at his home. He was 90. The son of the late Melvin and Louise Norris Kehrley, he was born April 2nd, 1935 in Briscoe, New York.
He worked for Baim’s Garage before joining the Airforce where he was stationed in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Allan then worked for the Liberty Highway Department for 31 years, many of them as a foreman. He and his wife, Pat, acquired many antique cars over the years, totaling 18. Allan always told Pat, "Just one more,” or “This is the last one,” until they ran out of room to store them. They drove one of these antique cars, a 1962 Corvette, to California and back twice over the years. Besides working on cars, Allan enjoyed hunting, fishing, managing his family’s sap house during the Spring, and general tinkering.
Through Allan's tinkering and Air Force schooling, he became an impressively skilled clock and watch repairman, woodworker, and one of the best mechanics to ever live. Whether it be diagnosing and solving an issue with a car, lawnmower, pool filter, weedwacker, etc, over the phone or making a tool to fix a part on a car that you can't buy new because it predates television, he truly could do it all. He always said he never worked a day in his life.
He is predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Patricia Kehrley and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his children Thomas (Karen), Daniel, William (Darlene), James (Judy), and Sandy; grandchildren Amanda Ritz (Andrew), Robert Powell (Payton), Beth Kehrley, Alex Kehrley, Julia Kehrley, Suzy Kehrley, Angie Kehrley, Lilly Kehrley, Gaige Hendrickson; great-grandchild Levi Ritz. He is also survived by his brothers Don Kehrley (Carol), Glen Kehrley, and Van Kehrley (Roberta) and many nieces and nephews.
“It’s been a hell of a ride.”
