Arvilla "Honey" Fix

Arvilla E. Fix, 91, beloved by everyone as “Honey”, passed quietly on July 16, 2026 at home in Grahamsville, NY. Honey was born on January 3, 1935 in Newburgh, NY to Richard and Arvilla Williams. She was married on August 3, 1952 to Robert N. Fix, known as Bob, for 66 years until his passing in 2019. Along with Bob, they were the owners of Liberty Lanes bowling center in Liberty, NY for 42 years.

Although her given name was Arvilla, the same name as her mother, she was called Honey her entire life. Even her teachers called her Honey. She played sports and was a cheerleader who dated her high school sweetheart Bob all four years of high school. They married after she graduated from Islip High School and celebrated every day together for 66 years of marriage.

Together Honey and Bob raised three children: Debbie Wohltjen, Bobby Fix, and Betty Jane Stevens. Her pride and joy came next; four grandsons: Kyle Stevens, Robert Fix III, Christopher Stevens (Destiny Stevens, wife) and Thomas Fix. She was also blessed with one great-granddaughter, Amelia Stevens. She loved her family and they loved her. She was always a giver; caring more about everyone else than herself.

Early in their marriage, Honey worked at Republic Aviation on Long Island, where Bob also worked. They were both avid bowlers and had a family business refinishing bowling pins called Long Island Bowling Service. Then in 1970, the family packed up and moved upstate when Honey and Bob purchased Liberty Lanes, which became another family affair. They also had another family business called Affordable Homes in Liberty. She was nicknamed “Hurricane Honey” because she got things done!

Even though bowling was a family passion, Honey also golfed because Bob loved it so much. She described it as ‘hit the ball, drag Honey.’ She enjoyed having reunions and parties for family and friends and was energetic and fun to be around. And then there were those snowmobiling trips. Early in her marriage, she was into gardening. She loved the NY Yankees and enjoyed lottery scratch-offs and casino slots. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles to keep her mind sharp.

Honey was predeceased by her husband Bob; parents Richard and Arvilla Williams; in-laws Adolph and Magdalena Fix; sister Donna Ruddy; brother Ricky Williams; brothers-in-law Adolf, Michael, Jacob and William Fix, Tom Ruddy and Ron Klune; sisters-in-law Eleanor Klune, Evelyn Fix, Mary Fix, Shirley Fix and Pat Williams; son-in-law Kurt Wohltjen; and a niece and nephew. She is survived by sister-in-law Elaine Fix; daughter Debbie Wohltjen; son and daughter-in-law Bobby and Sheila Fix; daughter Betty Jane Stevens; four grandsons; one granddaughter-in-law; one great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

The family plans a personal and private good-bye to celebrate their matriarch and the end of a generation. The family thanks everyone in advance for their contributions to our fond memories of this unforgettable woman who cracked jokes until the end.

Contributions may be made in Honey’s memory to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc. They are an unbelievable organization, available around the clock and extremely helpful to the family.
