Aurora Colantuono of Liberty, NY a home maker and a longtime area resident died Friday evening March 20, 2026 at her home with her loving family at her side. She was 72.
The daughter of the late Angel and Josephine Gonzalez Serrano, she was born April 6, 1953 in Hatillo, Puerto Rico.
Aurora was a Communicant of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Liberty, NY. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Aurora was a devoted mother of four who spent her life nurturing, guiding, and providing for her children with unwavering love and strength. She courageously battled heart disease, and in her final days, her wish was to be at peace with her family a wish that was lovingly honored.
She will be remembered as a caring and dedicated mother, a teacher in both word and example, and a woman who gave endlessly of herself. Aurora found joy in dancing, singing, cooking, and being surrounded by nature. She had a deep appreciation for preserving history and took great pride in educating her children about life, love, and heritage.
Aurora shared a special bond with her son, Jose Toledo, with whom she spent many cherished years traveling and enjoying life side by side. Whether dancing together in the kitchen, sharing laughter, or listening to music, these moments brought her immense happiness. Music held a special place in her heart she would light up, smile, clap along, and dance whenever a song played.
Aurora is survived by her loving children, Jose Toledo, Juan Reyes, and Linda Reyes; her cherished siblings, Juan Serrano, Evelyn Serrano, Jose Serrano, Monserrate Hernandez, Maria Santiago, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and 16 grandchildren.
Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and devotion. Though her time with us feels too short, the love she gave will last forever. As she showed us every day, a mother’s true love is strong stronger than a heartbeat.
