Barbara Johnston

Barbara A. Johnston of Downsville, NY, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026 at her home. She was 74.

The daughter of the late Arthur and Mildred Kohler Kinsella, she was born October 26, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY.

Barbara enjoyed a distinguished career on Wall Street in New York City, where she served for many years as a Chief Compliance Officer. She took great pride in her work and embraced the energy and excitement of city life. Following her retirement, Barbara and her husband, Robert, settled in Downsville, where they found joy and peace in country living. Together, they shared a deep and devoted partnership, rarely spending time apart and cherishing every moment together.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 58 years, Robert Johnston, at home; one son, Donald Johnston and his wife Fiona; her grandchildren, Shannon A. Johnston, Hailey N. Johnston, Sean K. Johnston and Brandon T. Johnston; her siblings, William, Robert, Mary Ann and Annie Kinsella; and her nephew, Timothy Mulholland.

She was predeceased by two sons, Robert and Keith.

Visitation and services will be private.
