Brent T. Farrand passed away peacefully in Livingston Manor, NY at the home of his son, Dean Farrand, at the age of 84 on August 5, 2011 after a brief illness. The son of the late Stuart and Dorothee Triest Farrand he was born on January 7, 1927 on Staten Island, NY. Formerly of Liberty, NY, Oakland, NJ, and Lakewood, NJ he recently moved to Walden, NY to be near family.

Brent proudly served Our Country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a gunner's mate on the U.S.S. Midway. Receiving his Bachelor's degree from Clark University, Brent spent the majority of his working career in the banking industry. A deeply religious man he loved to golf, fish, hunt, and sing in a semi-professional group.

In his adult-life Brent was active in scouting, as Scout Master of Troop #95 in Liberty, he was a mentor to many young boys. Brent's life was grounded in God's commandments and he followed those teachings by being very active in the fellowship of the United Methodist Church in Liberty, NY and Franklin Lakes, NJ as Finance Chairman, Ad Council Member and choir member. Brent was also active in the NJ Rotary Club and Liberty Volunteer Fire Department.

Brent was a devoted family man that has left his family with many cherished memories. A seemingly quiet man, he could be as quick with a joke as well as a needed piece of advice. His respectful considerate approach to life has filled his family and friends with an abundance of pride to have shared his time on earth.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Janet Farrand nee Anderson; and children: Brent (Vernell) of South Orange, NJ, Carol (Richard Sgambelluri) of Kintnersville, PA, Dean (Kathleen) of Liberty, NY, and Martha (Robert Bremer) of Walden, NY. He leaves behind eight grandchildren; Erica and Whitney Farrand, Elizabeth and Jessica Sgambelluri, Kyle Farrand and Keith, Shaun and Timothy Bremer. His sister Jeanne Killian, nephew Patrick Killian, niece Lynn Killian and their families also survive him.

Visitation will be Sunday (today), August 7, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Harris Funeral Home West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Firematic services will be Sunday (today), August 7, 2011 at 7PM in the funeral home.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 8, 2011 at 3:30 PM in the funeral home. The Rev. David LeDuc will officiate.

Memorial contributions in Brent's name may be made to Achieve Rehab. and Residential Health Care Facility, 170 Lake St. Liberty, NY 12754 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 2 Jefferson Plaza Suite 103 Poughkeepsie, NY 12601-4027.
