Carolyn S. Appley

Carolyn S. Appley, of East Branch, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025 at Roscoe Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility, Roscoe, NY.

The daughter of the late Jasper Shellman and Jennie McAdams Shellman, she was born on May 28th, 1935. She was predeceased by her husband Donald Appley.

Carolyn grew up in the Roscoe area where she graduated from Roscoe Central High School in 1953. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was known for crocheting afghans and baby blankets and her needlepoint tablecloths. She also enjoyed traveling around the United States and Europe; trips included England, Switzerland, Ireland, Key West, Savannah and Myrtle Beach.

She and her husband were the proprietors of the Log Cabin Bar and Motel in East Branch and the Hansel & Gretel Bar and Cabins in Horton. She worked as a salesperson assisting her husband for Appley Realty. Over the years she also worked at the famous Roscoe Dinner, Alibi Inn, IGA and Roscoe Liquor Store.

She is survived by her three sons, Joseph Appley, of Fishs Eddy, NY; John Appley and his companion Ginger Young, of Elk Brook, NY; and Michael Appley, of Fort Pierce, FL; and one daughter, Patricia Jenkins and her husband John of Gamlingay, England. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Carolyn is also survived by her brother Ronald Shellman and his wife Josphine; and sister-in-law, Marian Shellman.

She was predeceased by her brothers Albert Shellman, Charles Shellman and Fred Shellman; her sisters, Norma Clark and Marion Shellman; sister-in-law, Alba Shellman; and great granddaughter, Elayna Sanderson.

Visitation will be Monday December 29, 2025 from 4-7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.
Funeral services will be on December 30, 2025 at 11 AM in the funeral home. The Rev. Paul Cicio will officiate.
Burial will be in the East Branch Cemetery.
