Carolynn Grossman of Cochecton, NY, a lifelong area resident and Manager for Direct Care Advocate died peacefully Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at the Northeast Center for Rehabilitation and Brain Injury in Lake Katrine, NY. She was 49.

The daughter of late Larry and Carol Hector Houman, she was born August 23, 1976 in Monticello, NY.

Carolynn lives a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to family. Spending time with family and making memories was her number one passion. She was known for her generous love to everyone she met, sense of humor, fierce devotion to family, reliability, and faithfulness. She was a peacemaker and everyone’s biggest cheerleader. She was passionate about her work in the field of caring for people with disabilities. She cared for everyone as if they were her own family and was full of compassion towards those with greater needs.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Grossman; her children, Christopher Colton and his wife Desiree, Jayson Colton, and Caitlynn Grossman; one grandson, Ronin Colton; her sisters, Candy (Nysa) Sarna and her husband Puneet, Cindy Edmonds and her husband Farnell; one brother, Larry Houman, Jr.; nieces and nephews, Micheal Sheldon (Madison), Giya Sarna, Christina Devlin, Danielle Mann, John Isaacs, Sara Edmonds, Elizabeth Edmonds, Ian Edmonds, Charolette Edmonds; and aunts and uncles, Bonnie Lagoda, Barry Lagoda, John Hector, Donna Hector, Kathy Hector
Mike Houman, Eileen Houman; and cousins, Michael Hector & Crystal, Jennifer Norris, Melanie Hector & John Gleason, Kelly Nober, Kayla Aaron & John; and numerous other cousins, Lindsey Matthews, Travis Houman and wife Sabrina, Lorrie Houghtaling, and James Houghtaling,

She was predeceased by Carol & Larry Houman, Katherine & John Hector, Jacob & Cellie Houman, Glenda McIntoch (Aunt) and Keri Santiago.

A memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2026.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, in memory of Larry and Carol Houman or The Lighthouse for the Blind, in memory of Larry Houman, Jr.
