Charlie B Squires

Charlie B. Squires of Livingston Manor, NY a retired Senior Officer at the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Otisville, NY and a life long area resident, died April 28, 2025 at Garnet Health Medical Center, Middletown, NY. He was 67.

The son of the late Frederick and Unice Long Squires, he was born on September 7, 1957 in Liberty, NY.

Charlie had worked in Otisville Correctional Facility for 26 years and in law enforcement for 35 years total. His colleagues called him the “deer whisperer” because when he worked the perimeter, he could make deer appear from the woods with a whistle. He worked for a short time as a Forest Ranger and claimed it was his favorite career. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Officers in Montgomery; he attended Church Suppers at the Grahamsville Reformed Church and he was always lending a helping hand to his neighbors.

Survivors include his loving wife Marilyn Tolbert Squires, at home; his brother-in-law, Richard Tolbert and his wife Kathy of Millerton, PA; two sisters-in-law, Dawn Perry and her husband Ed and JoLee Pack and her husband Randy of both of Millerton, PA; his “sister” Peggy McCabe and many special neighbors and close friends who he considered extended family.

Charlie was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Harry Squires and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Giles and Sharon Tolbert.
