Chester August Anderson, Jr.

Chester A. Anderson, Jr., of Callicoon Center, NY, passed peacefully surrounded by his family at Garnet Medical Center in Middletown, NY, after a year and half battle with Prostate Cancer, on Friday, January 9, 2026.

The son of the late Chester A. Sr, and Eleanor Guazzoni Anderson, he was born September 3, 1946 in Hoboken, NJ. Chet retired from The Port Authority of NY and NJ where he worked for 27 years as a Police Officer/Detective. He moved from North Bergen, NJ to Callicoon Center in 2004. 

He joined the Callicoon Center Fire Department and was a member for 20 years. He also served as a Fire Commissioner for 20 years. He loved fishing, hunting and his dogs. He spent a lot of time over the last 40 years traveling to dog events with his AKC Champion Vizslas. 

Survivors include his wife of 58 years Nancy; two sons, Chester Anderson III and his wife Colleen; and Michael Anderson and his wife Marina; four grandchildren Nicholas, Shannon, Michael and Toni. 

Graveside services and burial will be Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 11 AM in Fairview Cemetery in Fairview, NJ.

A Celebration of Life in his memory will be held at a later date. Donations in Chet's name can be made to the Callicoon Center FD, Callicoon Center, NY.
