Darien Edward Nietzel

Darien Edward Nietzel of Livingston Manor, NY, a lifelong area resident, died Saturday, September 13, 2025 in Utica, NY. He was 26.

The son of Eugene E. Nietzel and the late Wendy Thomas, he was born July 7, 1999 in Harris, NY.

Darien graduated from Livingston Manor Central School. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved playing the guitar, writing music and teaching others to play guitar.

Survivors include his father, Eugene E. Nietzel of Pine Bush, NY; two brothers, Donavan Nietzel and his wife Brooke of MA and Randon Thomas; a sister, Janice Thomas; nieces and nephews, Julian Nietzel, Amanda (Hope), Jamie (Don), Bionca (Wayne) and Chena (Shane), Ashley, Carliyah, Eric, Cory, Leah, Jordon, Colton, Lucas, and Jonathan.

He is predeceased by his mother, Wendy; his grandfather, Vietnam Veteran Edward Nietzel; several aunts and uncles; and his stepparents, Stewart and Jeannette “Hime” Colton.

Graveside services and burial will be Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 10 AM in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Livingston Manor, NY. Father Edward Bader will officiate.
