Donald J. Bachorik

Donald J. Bachorik of Neversink, NY, a retired Operations Manager for Citibank and longtime area resident died Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at his home. He was 87.

The son of the late Stephen and Alice Durkin Bachorik, he was born January 28, 1939 in Manhattan, NY.

Donald had worked his career in banking on Wall Street in Manhattan before retiring and moving to Neversink, NY. He was a Notary Public, a die-hard Yankee fan, and enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, though his true obsession and lifelong passion was collecting vinyl records, whether they were 78s, 45s, or 33s. He collected records from every genre, but his first and primary love was doo wops, although no one took the place of “The King” himself, Elvis.

Raised in the projects of Manhattan’s Spanish Harlem and the Bronx, he met the love of his life, Judy. Together they raised a family, and in 1977 followed their shared passion to live a simpler and less complicated life in the peaceful, serene setting of the Catskill mountains. Their search brought them to Parksville, where they bought a stunning piece of property and built a lovely home overlooking the Neversink Reservoir. Don remained in that home for the rest of his life.

His survivors include one son, Kevin Bachorik, and his wife Miriam of Dunellen, NJ; four grandchildren, Jacob Schwartz, Eric Schwartz, Valerie Bachorik and Gina Bachorik; four great grandchildren, Warren, Nathan, Tyler, and Emerson. He was predeceased by his wife, Judith Schraier Bachorik, his daughter, Andrea Schwartz, his brother, Edward Bachorik, and his longtime companion, Joan Wingender.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10 AM-11:30 AM in the Harris Funeral Home West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 11:30 AM in the funeral home. Pastor Joseph LeConey will officiate.

Burial will be in the Rural Cemetery, Grahamsville, NY.
