Donna Lee Chapman of French Woods, NY, passed away Thursday July 17th at Forest City Rehab Center. Donna was born in Walton, NY, on October 18th, 1948.
Donna graduated from SUNY Brockport in 1969 and taught Kindergarten and Pre – K at Hancock Elementary School for over 30 years. She loved working with children and is known for turning her lessons into songs and games. From singing The Day of the Week and The Clean-Up songs, to P Mooney, Donna helped children learn and thrive. Donna was also known for her home-made vests that matched her lessons and holidays, as well as having dated Benjamin Franklin. She enjoyed knitting, reading, and watching Christmas movies.
Donna was predeceased by her sister, Karen Wakin.
Donna is survived by her husband, Donald; two daughters, Kendra Spangenberg, Kari (James) Decker, three grandchildren; Evan and Jasmine Spangenberg, and Ben Decker, niece; Nikki Schmidt-Crandal and nephew; David Schmidt, and two great-grandchildren; Riley and Evan Spangenberg, Jr.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August, 23 at the Hancock Firemen’s Club Rooms at 11am, please bring a dish to pass.
