Edward T. McKenna

Edward T. McKenna of Youngsville, NY a retired Senior Investigator for the New York State Police stationed in Liberty, NY and a long-time area resident died Sunday, August 25, 2024. He was 89.

The son of the late Edward T. McKenna and Agnes M. (Reid) McKenna, he was born May 30, 1935 in Manhattan, NY. He attended Mount St. Michael’s High School in the Bronx and graduated from St. Anne’s Hermatige, Esopus, NY. Then he proudly served Our Country in the US Air Force. He then joined the NYS Police for 36 years. After retiring, Edward served as a Town of Callicoon Town Justice for 25 years. He was a Communicant of St. Francis Church in Youngsville, NY and served as a member of the Parish Council; he was a Eucharistic Minister, Calvary Cemetery Trustee, Choir Member, and Parish Trustee. He had been President of the Youngsville PTA; a Boy Scout and Cub Scout Master. He also was member of the Jeffersonville Ambulance Corp. and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. 

Survivors include his wife, Laurene G. McKenna, at home; two sons, Edward T. McKenna and his wife Karen of West Hurley, NY and Robert McKenna and his wife Terri of Plattsburgh, NY; two daughters, Laurene M. McKenna-Menges and her husband James of Jeffersonville, NY and Katherine A. Burmaster and her husband David of Delmar, NY; two sisters, Clare Doran of The Villages, FL and Agnes M. Black of Melville, NY; seven grandchildren, Edward, Ryan, Connor, Anne, Faith, and Mae McKenna and Isabella Burmaster, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one brother, James McKenna; and three sisters, Regina, Patricia, and Mary.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 3-7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Friday, August 30, 2024 at 11 AM in St. Francis Church, Youngsville, NY. Father Roland Raj MMI will officiate.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Youngsville, NY
