Edward M. Palmer of Liberty, NY, a retired supervisor for the US Government military affairs on Governor’s Island and a long time area resident died Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. He was 91.
The son of the late Nicholas and Mary Palmiotti, he was born May 24, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY.
Edward proudly served Our Country as a private in the US Army, Company F, 15th Infantry, 3rd Division during World War II and had been awarded a Purple Heart. At age 89, he received his high school graduation diploma from the Liberty High School. Edward lived a strong and happy life. He was loved by his community.
Survivors include two daughters, Marcia D. Palmiotti of Brooklyn, NY and Robin J. Cohen of Odessa, FL; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a great friend, Clarence Decker. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 70 years, Elayne E. Palmer on June 29, 2014; his son, Alan S. Palmer on December 8, 2014 and by his 11 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 4-7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 9, 2017 at 10 AM in the funeral home. Deacon John Riley will officiate.
Burial with military honors will be in the Sullivan County Veteran’s Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
