Emily Agnes Dannic of Callicoon, NY, a retired Registered Nurse and five-year area resident passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025 at home, surrounded by her family. She was 77.
The daughter of the late Herbert and Harriet Gray Semple, she was born September 18, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY. Herbert was a NYC Police Officer and Harriet was a wonderful mother with a funny sense of humor. Together they raised three daughters who all grew up to be Registered Nurses.
Emily married Roger Dannic on June 22, 1968 in St. Patrick’s Church in Bay Ridge Brooklyn, NY. They had four children, James, Michael, Roger, Jr. and Patricia. In 1971 they moved to Florham Park, NJ. For many years, Emily was a nurse at a doctors office and managed to get her children to school and after school activities as well as preparing meals, while Roger commuted to NYC to work in the Wall Street District.
Emily was known as a nurse to her community and she never backed away from helping others. Anyone who knew Emily, either from home, around the community or at work, in the local doctor’s office, knew they could rely on her for medical assistance and friendly companionship without hesitation. As the children began to graduate from school Emily started a new nursing career for a company named Executive Health Examiners in Whippany, NJ and worked there for many years until retiring in 2013.
Survivors include her husband, Roger A. Dannic, of Callicoon, Ny; three sons, James Dannic and his wife Gretchen Lomker Dannic of Callicoon, NY, Michael Dannic of Callicoon, NY and Roger Dannic, Jr. of St. Petersburg, FL; one daughter, Patricia Dannic of Callicoon, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
