Ernest A. Bivins

Ernest A. Bivins of Liberty, NY, a retired truck driver and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, August 15, 2025 at the Care Center at Sunset Lake in Liberty, NY. He was 77.

The son of the late Ernest E. and Elizabeth O'Neil Bivins, he was born December 5, 1947 in Liberty, NY.

Ernie proudly served Our Country in the US Army. He is a former member of the Veterans of Foreign War; he enjoyed fishing, playing softball, playing two handed pinochle and solitaire.

He was an avid NY Yankee fan.

Survivors include three daughters: Tonya Simpson and her husband Ralph of Virginia, Carrie Bivins of Swan Lake, NY and Devan Young of Liberty, NY; and five grandchildren: David, Austin, Billy, Nicholas, Ashley and Kayla. Including special family friends: Crystal Young, Kurtis Payne, Gerald Bieling; and Ginny Young.

He was predeceased by a son, Dustin Young in 1990.

Graveside services and burial with military honors will be Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 10 AM in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery on Sunset Lake Road, Liberty, NY.
