Frederick H. Steffens, III

Frederick Henry Steffens, III of North Branch, NY, a retired Heavy Machinery Mechanic with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 825, died Saturday, February 14, 2026 at home surrounded by his family. He was 81.

The son of the late Frederick Henry, Jr. and Joan Spanier Steffens, he was born May 7, 1944 in Queens, NY.

Frederick enjoyed hunting and fishing. He spent exciting times with his grandchildren racing stock cars. He was their personal mechanic and financial sponsor. Frederick was a family man at heart. He loved his time with his wife, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Peggy, at home; son, Dale Frederick Steffens and his wife Lynn Steffens; his grandson, Steven Tyler Steffens and his girlfriend Jenn Gordon; his granddaughter, Felicia Marie Reichenbaugh; great grandsons, Jace Tyler Steffens and Eli Jensen Steffens; great-granddaughter, Lydia Gracelynn Steffens; and several nieces and nephews. Frederick was predeceased by his parents and his daughter, Tammy Lynn Steffens-Reichenbaugh; and his dog, Oliver.

Graveside services will be held in the Spring in the Heavenly Rest Cemetery, North Branch, NY.
