George Abplanalp

George K. Abplanalp of Youngsville, NY a retired Lineman for NYSEG in Liberty, NY a lifelong resident, died Wednesday, March 5, 2026 at Garnet Medical Center, Middletown, NY. He was 88.

The son of the late Kenneth and Gertrude Hubert Abplanalp, he was born June 2, 1937 in Callicoon, NY.

George proudly served Our County in the US Army. In younger years, he enjoyed bowling, hunting and playing softball. Later in life, George would feed the deer from his backyard.

Survivors include his wife of 66 1/2 years, Myrna Smith Abplanalp, at home; his children, Terri Abplanalp and her husband Marius Tapper of Brooklyn, NY and Troy Abplanalp and his wife Donna of Youngsville, NY; his grandchildren, Chelsea Flynn and her husband Bryan of Narrowsburg, NY and Kenneth Abplanalp and his wife Samantha of Youngsville, NY; his great grandchildren, Myles, Savannah, and Cole; his sister-in-law, Nancy Schrader of Buffalo, NY and many cousins.

Visitation will be Saturday March 7, 2026 from 12 Noon to 2 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY. Funeral services will begin at 2 PM in the funeral home. The Rev. Jay Vogelaar will officiate.

Memorial contributions in George's name may be made to the Youngsville Volunteer Fire Department or to the Jeffersonville Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
