George Baxter, Jr.

George Baxter, Jr. of Monticello, NY, a retired construction worker and longtime area resident died Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the Garnet Health Hospital in Middletown, NY. He was 78.

George was born January 22, 1947 in North Carolina.

After retirement, George worked as a caretaker at the apartment complex where he lived. He enjoyed visiting with his neighbors, fishing and riding his bike in the community.

Survivors include one daughter, Deborah M. Brown of Monticello, NY; five grandchildren, Walter Jones, Jr., Jayden Jones, Devin Jones, Jazlynn Jones and Brandon Kearney; a dear friend, Barbara Brown and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, October 6, 2025 from 6-7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 6, 2025 at 7 PM in the funeral home. The Rev. Douglas Bowman will officiate.

Following services, cremation will take place at the Harris Crematorium, LLC.
