Harold Fox

Harold J. "Harry" Fox of Poughkeepsie, NY, formerly of Jeffersonville, NY, a retired Police Officer for the City of New York and a longtime area resident died Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at Vasser Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was 85.

The son of the late Michael and Catherine Hamill Fox, he was born May 16, 1940 in Bronx, NY. 

Harry proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1958-1960.  He retired as a New York City Police Officer and had been a long time resident of Bronx, New York.  Harry was an Honorary Life Member and Past Exalted Ruler of Liberty Elk's Lodge # 1545 where he was a member for 29 years. He also held the position of Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, representing Liberty Lodge with pride. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Fraternal Order of Police.

Survivors include one son, Kevin Fox of Poughkeepsie, NY; one daughter, Jeanine McDermott and her husband, James; four grandchildren, Corinne Castro and her spouse Bill, Andrea Fox and her spouse Spencer Kane, Tara Burke and her spouse Adrian, and Andrew Sullivan; four great grandchildren, Kaley, Conner, Landon and Cooper. He was predeceased by his wife, Peggy Fox and his brother, Michael Fox.

Visitation will be Monday May 18, 2026 from 3 to 6:30 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St at Buckley, Liberty, NY. BPOE Elks Lodge #1545 will conduct services at 6:30 PM in the funeral home.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 11 AM in the funeral home. Father Thomas Mestriparampil will officiate. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Youngsville, NY.
