Helen G. Possemato

Helen Jones Possemato, daughter of the late Margaret and Adam Jones Sr., passed away January 24, 2026 at her home in East Branch, NY.

She was born February 9, 1935 on the Frank Jones Farm on Harvard Road in East Branch. The neighbor, Ursula Fingado, served as a midwife, delivering her at home. Helen was raised in Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY and her family returned to the area when she was 19 and settled in Hancock.

Helen met her husband, Rocco “Scott” Possemato, at the Candy Land Restaurant where she worked. They married in 1954 at Florence and Rocky Vitale’s home in Cadosia.

She found great satisfaction and enjoyment in teaching the Bible and helping others. She had a great sense of humor, was quite feisty and as one friend put it, “She was a force of nature!”

Survivors include her children: Scott Possemato and his wife Karen, Heidi Possemato, Sonia Ptasznik and her husband Ted, Todd Possemato and his wife Kathy; one sister-in-law, Lenora Jones; her grandchildren, Scott Jr., Todd Jr., Blake (Brie) Henderson, Blaine Henderson, Alana Henderson, Alexa (Colin) Norwood, Ali Sousi; and great grandchildren, Axedon, Avery, Kiahna, Lyliana and Kruz, Cal, Oliver, Theodora, Enzo, Amira; and one great great grandbaby, soon to come; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Marion Hartman, Adam Jones and Harry Jones.

Funeral services will be at the Deposit Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, with a date to be determined.

Helen's family would like to extend a thank you to Erica Collin’s and her staff for the wonderful care and support they always gave! Also, a thank you to Hospice, Office of the Aging and our kind neighbors.
