Born in NYC, he lived much of his childhood in Slovakia taking care of his mother and five siblings until the age of 17, when he returned to Manhattan and Founded City Wire Works in his early 20’s, along with his brother Mike (a specialty machine shop which constructed security screens for many schools, churches, banks and apartment complexes across the five boroughs). In 1975 he moved his family to upstate NY, purchasing Kohler Lumber Mill and expanding that business into Kohler Lumber Company Inc (a full-service lumber and hardware store) which he ran as President and CEO for over 30 years. He was truly a brilliant man.
Henry was an active parishioner at St. George’s R.C Church of Jeffersonville, NY as well as, Saint Maximilian Kolbe of Port Charlotte FL. He was also a lifelong honorary member of K.L. Fox Hunting Club.
Above all, Henry was an amazing Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and Uncle as well as a true friend to so many. He was not a man of many words; however, he was never afraid to speak up when he had something important to say. His unwavering Faith and his devotion especially to The Blessed Virgin Mary were a testament to how he lived his life and what he taught his family.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, at St. George R.C. Church in Jeffersonville NY. Mass at 12’oclock noon followed by a burial service at Calvary Cemetery and Repass at St. George Pope John Paul Hall until 3pm.
