James P. Allen Jr.
James P. Allen, Jr., of Liberty, NY, died Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the Achieve Rehab and Nursing Facility in Liberty, NY. He was 82.
The son of the late James and Lillian Allen, he was born July 5, 1941 in West Virginia.
James sadly left this world after a long illness. His life was richly lived in service and kindness. Known for his generosity, “Pete”, as he was affectionately called, spent most of his life and career in Ellenville, NY, graduated high school at Ellenville High School and later graduated from West Virginia State College and the Institute of West Virginia. Beyond a number of employment opportunities he was a manager at Sears and Roebuck and filleted fish in South Fallsburg for Stollman Fish Market.
He was a beloved father, brother and friend. He leaves a legacy through his surviving family, a sister, Janet; two sons; Derek Lane (Mae) and James Allen, Jr., 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of in-laws, nieces and nephews. His memory will be a guiding star for all who knew them. He was predeceased in death by his parents, his brothers, Doug and Cottie.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 12 noon until 1 pm in the Shiloh Baptist Church 60 Berme Road, Ellenville, NY.
Funeral services will be at 1 PM in the Shiloh Baptist Church 60 Berme Road, Ellenville, NY. Pastor Julius A. Collins, Jr. will officiate.
A committal service will take place at 2:30 pm immediately following the service at the Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville, NY. No repast has been scheduled.
