James DeFio

James DeFio of Liberty, NY, a retired manager at CVS in Philadelphia, PA, died Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at home in Liberty, NY. He was 68.

The son of the late Stella Schneider, he was born March 11, 1957 in Syracuse, NY.

James was a communicant of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Liberty, NY. He was The President of the Residential and Food Council at Achieve Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Survivors include his wife, Julia Kovacs DeFio, at home; his son, Todd DeFio of Parksville, NY; his daughter, Elizabeth DeFio of Philadelphia, PA; three sisters, Donna Hurn of Syracuse, NY, Alexis Goodell of Little Falls, NY, Mary DeFio of Richmond, VA; eight grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and four great-grandchildren.

Private burial was in the Liberty Cemetery, Liberty, NY. The family is planning a Celebration of Life in the near future.
