James Eugene Fehsal, “Pops” or “Bourbon Cowboy”, of White Sulphur Springs, NY, a long time area resident, died Friday October 13, 2017 at his home.  He was 76.

The son of the late Eugene and Carol Fehsal, he was born February 23, 1941 in Nyack, NY.

Pop was a retired heavy equipment operator for his brother’s business, John J. Fehsal Excavating, for 32 years. He was an avid horse and rodeo lover and always worked hard and was willing to lend a hand or teach his knowledge for tractors and equipment; he was a problem solver. For the last 10 years, he built his house and cared for the animals at Running W Farm. He could always be found on the farm, riding around on his buggy.  His favorite event on the farm was the Annual Pig Roast which included fireworks that he loved.  He was the hands-on type of farmer from the slaughter to making the hay; just three weeks ago, he was making circles on the hay field shuffling equipment from place to place.  The past five years, he came to make more friends in White Sulphur Springs at the Pit Stop where he had breakfast every morning with his friends, discussing the day’s plan.  Pops was easy to talk to and everyone loved him. You knew you could always get an honest opinion and a reality check from him; you knew if he liked you or not.

Survivors include his children Skye Fehsal-Wilbur and James Wilbur and Sue Fehsal and Lou Torinese; step children, Steve, Kevin, Billy and Ann Patton; grandchildren, Jessey Torrens and Marisol, Joshua Wilbur and Barbara, Hailey Torinese and Justin Wood; half sister, Jennie and half brother, Richard; many step grandchildren, cousins, family and friends. Pop had his “women” around him and he had a special place in his heart for them, Jennifer O’Shea, Agnes Smith, Lisa Diesher, Elizabeth Lane, Samsara Torres and Bridgette LeConey.  He would watch them show and barrel race their horses or they would come back to the farm with ribbons to show him how they did; he loved this.

He was predeceased by this loving wife, Glendora Fehsal on October 5th they would have been married for 43 years; and two step children, Jimmy and Harry Patton.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 4 to 6 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 6 PM in the funeral home.  The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.
