James M. Hopper

James Michael Hopper of Liberty, NY, a lifelong area resident died Sunday, February 15, 2026 at his home. He was 45.

The son of Dawn Montag Ostrander and Doulgas Hopper, Sr., he was born July 22, 1980 in Harris, NY.

James loved to learn about and fix cars with his grandfather.

James is survived by his mother and stepfather, Dawn and John Ostrander of Livingston Manor, NY; brother, Douglas Hopper; sisters, Shannon Ostrander and her husband, Lawrence Genovese of Roscoe, NY; Wendy Young of Roscoe, NY, Judy Ellis of Loch Sheldrake, NY, Sue Allen with her husband, Jerry of North Carolina, and Carol Torres with her husband Hector of Liberty, NY; uncle Pete McKune of Cambridge, NY; aunt Linda Kendell of Liberty, NY; niece Isabella Genovese; and nephews, Thomas Genovese, Dennis Hopper, and Dillon Hopper.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 2 PM at the Cornerstone Community Church in Livingston Manor, NY. The Reverend Paul Nilsen will officiate.
