Jane Alice Benson

Jane Alice Benson (Flint), 79, of North Branch, NY, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026 surrounded by her family.

Born in Bronx, NY on November 25, 1946, Jane had an ambitious life as an administrative assistant, business owner, seamstress, gardener, cook, and most importantly, matriarch of the Benson family. She grew up on Long Island, and moved to North Branch, NY in 1973 to start a new business and raise her family. Jane was a woman with strong values who never did anything half-way. She was incredibly talented and deeply respected, successfully raising her five children on her own. Jane was not only the rock of her family but also her community. Neighbors loved to watch Jane tend to her many gardens, decorate her home for every season, and offer company to those who visited her busy sewing room, warm kitchen, and welcoming front porch. Jane loved making things beautiful. She had an admirable knack for sewing and design. She loved putting ideas into action. In her later years, Jane found great joy in taking trips with her friends and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved sharing her passion for gardening, sewing, and cooking with them. All her friends and family have jars of pickles and applesauce filled with Jane’s love.

Jane is survived by her five children: Charles Benson, Jr (Raffaela), James (Melinda) Benson, Robert (Jennifer) Benson, Janel Benson (Tom Cambier), Timothy (Amber) Benson, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Jane is predeceased by her parents Robert and Henrietta Flint and loving brother, Robert Flint.

In lieu of flowers, Jane requested that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.

Join us in celebrating Jane’s life and legacy with a viewing at the Harris Funeral Home Railroad Ave., Roscoe, NY on May 15th from 4-7 PM pm, followed by a memorial service at 7 PM. She will be buried the next day on May 16th at 10am in the North Branch Methodist Cemetery.
