Jason T. McGlone of East Branch, NY a head cook at Delaware Valley Job Corps. Center, and a long time area resident, died Thursday, July 17, 2025 in active line of duty while responding to an emergency call. He was 51.
The son of Evelyn Scherf McGlone and the late Thomas John McGlone, he was born June 14, 1974 in Huntington, New York.
Jason was a 25 year member and acting Assistant Chief for East Branch Fire Department; and previously served as Fire Police Captain for five years. Jason was a very dedicated fireman who spent countless training and loved teaching kids about fire safety. He was looking forward to volunteering at the Delaware County Fair fire prevention tent this summer.
Jason loved cooking and barbecuing for his friends, family and for church and charity events. He competed in many cooking competitions. Jason has also helped with the Wreaths Across America fundraising and has placed wreaths at the East Branch Cemetery in honor of our Veterans.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing each year with his children and friends. He was a history buff and collected books and movies and was known to be a walking history book himself.
Jason was very passionate about his career as a cook; he worked with underprivileged inner-city youths and found ways to relate to them through his cooking. He strived to make the children he worked with feel comfortable in their environment by serving them food that reminded them of home.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, CaroleAnn Gilmore McGlone, at home; his daughter, Addaleen McGlone; and son, Michael McGlone; his mother, Evelyn McGlone and Erik Dalaker of Vero Beach, FL; his brother, Thomas McGlone and his wife Barbara of Center Port, NY; three sisters, Margaret Gurlides and her husband Brian of Kings Park, NY, Agnes Swanson and her husband Richard of Laguna Niguel, CA and Jennifer Estrada and her husband Rudy of Zephyrhills, FL; and many cousins, nieces and nephews including Thomas McGlone and his wife Peggy of Hanover, PA.
Memorial visitation will be Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 12 Noon to 2 PM in the East Brach Fire Hall, East Branch, NY. Funeral and Firematic services will be conducted at 2 PM in the fire hall. A respite will follow at the Hancock Fire Hall, Hancock, NY.
