John Patrick Ducey, 55, of Callicoon, New York, passed away on May 2, 2026.
John was a devoted husband to Jennifer Coll Ducey and a deeply loving father to his two children, Zachary John and Emily Ruth, who were the center of his world. Born in Liberty, New York, he was the beloved son of the late Michael and Robin Ducey.
John and Jen met in 2000 and married in 2008. They were not only partners, but best friends, true companions in every sense. Together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering support.
John worked as a real estate agent with Keller Williams, where he built his career and earned the trust of clients through his integrity, dedication, and genuine care for others. He took pride in helping people find their homes and was known for the relationships he built along the way.
In addition to his professional work, John was a dedicated coach for the Sullivan West Central School District, serving as Assistant Modified Boys Basketball Coach in 2022–2023 and 2023-2024, Assistant JV Boys Basketball Coach in 2024-2025 and Head JV Boys Basketball Coach in 2025–2026. In the past, he also coached youth soccer and baseball in the community. He was more than a coach — he was a mentor and a steady presence, known for his kindness, patience, and quiet strength.
Above all else, John was a family man. He found his greatest joy at home, creating a space filled with warmth and care. He took pride in transforming his home through hands-on projects, including kitchen and bathroom remodels and, most recently, his daughter's room. He was an avid gardener who built beautiful gardens in his backyard and tended lovingly to his plants year after year, finding joy in watching them grow and return each season.
He was a proud and devoted father — coaching Zachary on the basketball court and cheering him on with constant encouragement, and in recent weeks, teaching him how to drive. He and Zach shared a love of watching sports together, loyal Jets and Mets fans through every season, and followers of the NBA, spending years watching games side by side.
For Emily, he was her most devoted fan. She performed in school productions and at the Forestburgh Playhouse, earning sought-after roles through her remarkable talent. She was a regular choice to sing the national anthem at school sporting events and community gatherings. John was always there for every performance, every game, every moment — beaming with pride.
John will be remembered for his quick wit, warmth, and deep empathy. He had a way of showing up for people quietly, consistently, and with his whole heart.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Coll Ducey; his children, Zachary John Ducey and Emily Ruth Ducey; his brother, Thomas Ducey and his children, Brian Ducey and Sarah Ducey; his brother, Kevin Ducey; his sister, Anne Ducey Garnish and her husband, Matthew Garnish, and their daughter, Ava Garnish; his mother-in-law, Norma Coll; his sister-in-law, Melissa Kubenik and her husband, Jared Kubenik, and their children, Lila Kubenik and Kevin Kubenik; his brother-in-law, Sean Coll; and many beloved cousins, extended family members, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Robin Ducey; his father-in-law, Kevin Coll; and his nephew, Joseph Ducey.
John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. There is a space left behind that cannot be filled, but his love and the life he built will continue to live on in all who were lucky enough to know him.
