John H. Eggler of White Sulphur Springs, NY, passed away suddenly Monday, January 4, 2021. He was 85.
Jack was a life-long resident of Sullivan County and was known, loved, and admired by many. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and astute businessman. Jack lived life on his own terms and was always there for his family and community. Over the years, he touched the lives of many people, all of which have numerous stories of their encounters and time spent with him. Jack displayed a strong front, but he had a kind, loving soul who always looked out for others. He never hesitated to do what he could to help those in need. He was a proud leader of his community and at any given time, you could pass through the White Sulphur and see him standing in the doorway of the garage watching over things with a cigar in his mouth. In recent years, you would see him either mowing or moving things around to do his part in making sure the town always looked nice. Jack had a passion for flying and spent many hours flying friends throughout the skies of Sullivan County. He was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol, the WSS Fire Department, and a member of the Panther Mountain Hunting Club.
Jack is survived by his wife Nancy (Wood) Eggler; his daughters, Bonnie Peters and her husband Kevin, Donna Hemmer and her husband John, Melissa Trask and her husband Emerson, and Susan Skinner and her husband John; and his son, Wayne Berberich. Jack had several grandchildren, Derek Austin, Jaclene Poley and husband Chris, Dylan Peters, Ryan & Owen Trask, Erin & Joey Skinner, Sarah, Rachel, Nathan and Ethan Berberich and a great-granddaughter, Genavieve Poley. He also leaves behind a sister, Joyce Teed; and several nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Louise (Graff) Eggler; a brother, Walter Eggler; and brother-in-law, Leon Teed.
