Jose D. Rivera

Jose D. Rivera of Monroe, NY a retired engineer at Madison Square Garden, New York, NY, and a long-time area resident, died Monday, October 1, 2024 at Garnet Health Medical Center, Middletown, NY. He was 86.

The son of the late Jose Rivera and Alejandrina Collazo, he was born March 13, 1938 in Ciales, Puerto Rico.

Survivors include his wife Magalis Matos, at home; his son, Jose Rivera Jr. and his spouse Carmen Negron; grandchildren, Jose, Joel, Lesandra, Michael; and great grandchildren, Julian, Jovani, and A’niya; his son, Rene Rivera and his spouse Mayra Rivera; and grandchildren, Cheris, Joshua, and Gabriela; and great grandchildren, Miguel, Isaia, Mariah, Judah, Jacob, Levi, Eliyah, Benjamin, Josiah, Nathaniel, Dominic, Jayden; great great grandchildren, Miguel and Amalia; grandchildren, Christina and Sabrina; and great grandchildren, Dallas, Esme, Isla, and Elijah; his daughter, Marisol Rivera-Torres and her spouse Ruben Torres; and grandchildren, Krystal, Branden, and John; and great grandchildren, Javian, Mila, and Myles; his daughter/granddaughter, Jennifer; step-children, Joann (spouse Guillermo); grandchildren, Justin and Gabriel; and great grandchild, Baylor Jasmine (spouse Edwin); and grandchildren, Baeli and Alexa (spouse Mark); grandchildren, Brittney, Daniel, and Samuel; and great grandchildren, Amara and Walker.  He was predeceased by one son, John Rivera.

 Visitation will be Monday, October 7, 2024 from 2-4 PM in the Calvary Lighthouse Church, 145 No. Main Street, Monroe, NY. Funeral mass will begin at 5 PM in the church.

 Burial will be Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 11:15 AM in St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
