Justine Deitz

Justine Mary Deitz of Roscoe, NY died Wednesday, October 25, 2017. She was 99 years old. The daughter of the late Vincent and Maria Ciaccia Mingolla, she was born on January 24, 1918 in Middletown, NY, where she resided for forty years.

Justine, known as “Jay” by friends and family, married Ernest Deitz of Monroe, NY in September 1957. They were a devoted couple. “Jay and Ernie” were always surrounded by friends and family, celebrating holidays and picnics together. Justine was a loving and caring wife, always reaching out to her parents and sisters and brothers. She loved being an aunt to eleven nieces and nephews. Her first nephew, Blaise, became her Godchild.

Justine belonged to the Chaminade Club and “Woodmen of the World” in her early adult years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where she attended St. Joseph School. Of special note is Jay’s beautiful operatic voice. She loved to perform, singing at weddings and family gatherings. She also sang with a small local band.

Justine is predeceased by her beloved husband, Ernest Deitz, her sister, Anne Zweifel, and her brothers, Dominic, Louis, and Angelo Mingolla.

Survivors include her sister, Rose Perrello; her nieces, Linda Harlow, Mary Sarajian, Kathleen Sponenberg, Laura Welch, and Mary Ann Moughan; her nephews, Blaise, Vincent, Joseph, Michael, and Richard Perrello, and Paul Zweifel; and seventeen grand nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Middletown, NY.

Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Middletown, NY.
