Kay Poley Rosenberger, a lifelong area resident of Hortonville, NY, passed away peacefully on March 31 st in Melbourne, Florida. She was 86.
The daughter of the late Earle & Ellen Mae Stewart Poley, she was born on August 23, 1939 in Callicoon, NY.
Kay was a graduate of Delaware Valley Central School where she met the love of her life, Carl Rosenberger, whom she married in October of 1957 and started their family. Kay was very proud to have completed her teaching degree through SUNY Oneonta while raising her four children. She started her teaching career in Tri-Valley School Central District and later taught at Livingston Manor Central School for 24 years.
Kay’s love for God and her Savior, Jesus Christ, began at a young age in the North Branch United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Grace Church of Callicoon as well as the First Baptist Church of Barefoot Bay, FL. Kay’s favorite past times were spending time with her family, especially her babies, and her church. Any events that her children, grandchildren or great grandchildren were involved in, whether school, athletic or theatrical productions, were rarely missed. She especially loved spending time entertaining and reminiscing with friends and family. She was very active in her teaching community and was a member of NYSUT.
Kay is survived by her husband, Carl of 68 years, her daughter, Debbie (Guy) Owen, and her sons, Brent (Kimberly) Rosenberger, Glen (Joanne) Rosenberger and Brian (Christine) Rosenberger. Her grandchildren include Garrett (Jessie) Owen, Gaston (Lindsey) Owen, Gavin (Allyson) Owen, Alec Rosenberger, Taylor Rosenberger, Erin (William) Nordenhold, Andrew (Heather) Rosenberger, Amanda Rosenberger Troia, Lauren (Andrew) Pullen, Matthew (Shannon) Rosenberger, Kyle Rosenberger and her 14 great-grandchildren, Corbin, Sawyer & Tennyson Owen, Hadley Owen, Graham & Claire Nordenhold, Scarlet, Briar & Westley Rosenberger, William Troia, Wyatt & Madelyn Pullen, and Carter & Sadie Rosenberger. She is also survived by her sisters, Bonnie (Ross) Dimler, Jane Buddenhagen and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, Earle and Ellen Mae Poley and two sisters, Carolyn Sue Ebert and Amy Poley.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 10, 2026 at the United Methodist Church in North Branch, NY from 11:00am - 1:00pm. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:30pm at the church, followed by burial at the North Branch United Methodist Cemetery.
