Leonard R. Shaw

Leonard R. Shaw of Hamden, NY a lifelong area resident passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2026. He was 73.

The son of the late Raymond B. and Frances L. Teed Shaw, he was born November 27, 1952 in Delhi, NY.

Leonard was a hardworking logger who enjoyed watching NASCAR and spending time with those he loved. Many knew him affectionately as “The Mayor of Fuller Hollow,” but to his granddaughter, Kayleigh, he was simply “Pop Pop” — her hero, her special companion, and someone who held a very special place in her heart.

Survivors include his wife, Susan L. Brock Shaw, at home; his granddaughter, Kayleigh Shaw, at home; one sister, Marie Fuller of Downsville, NY; one brother, Lester Shaw and his wife Cheryl of Milford, NY; his brothers-in-law, Martin Brock and his wife Jerilynn of Roscoe, NY and Milton Brock and his wife Tina; one sister, Dawn Cortright; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Brock of Sullivan County, NY; and he was loved by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two sons, Paul and Jeremy Shaw.

The passing of Leonard, a man who was probably the kindness man we know, a friend who will drop everything to help anyone, we ask - How can this be possible? Leonard’s caring heart touched so many lives. We will miss our chats, his laugh, his knowledge, friendly advice, his love. It is an honor to call him our friend.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 18, 2026 from 12 Noon to 1 PM in the Colchester Community Church, Main Street, Downsville, NY. Funeral services will begin at 1 PM in the church, Rev. Christine Lindeberg will officiate.
