Lester G. Norris

Lester Norris of Parksville, NY a retired Correctional Officer at Woodbourne Correctional Facility, Woodbourne, NY and a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, April 11, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family and very special German Shepherd dog, De. He was 92.

The son of the late Walter R. and Louise Miller Norris, he was born August 13, 1931 in Liberty, NY.

Lester was an outdoorsman; he loved spending his time hunting rabbit and deer, mostly right in Parksville. He enjoyed his hobby farm, raising beef cattle, chickens, and other animals; and even in recent years you could find him riding his tractor and cutting hay. He also enjoyed his wood shop where he would repair antiques and use a lathe and other equipment to create beautiful pieces.

Survivors include his son, Walter “Wally” Norris and his wife Debbie of Ferndale, NY; his daughter, Jennifer DeFrank and her husband Michael of Parksville, NY; his grandchildren, Leona Washington and her husband AJ of Monticello, NY, Katrina Martins and her husband Chris of AZ; Michael DeFrank Jr., Giada DeFrank, and Genna DeFrank all of Parksville, NY; great grandchildren, Jaden Washington and Kenzi Washington; and his many special nieces, nephews and cousin, Eileen Robertson.

He was predeceased by his wife Dawne Norris; and two siblings, Albert W. Norris and Marion Klein.

Visitation will be Monday, April 15, 2024 from 4-6 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY. 

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 11 AM in the funeral home. The Rev. Joseph LeConey will officiate. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
