Lonnie Reddick Jr. was born on September 17, 1951 to his late parents Lonnie “Calvin” Reddick Sr. and Esther Marie Reddick in New York, NY. Lonnie Reddick Jr. attended New York City public schools and would go on to graduate from George Washington High School in 1969. As a young child his family joined the Spiritual Israel Church and Its Army in the late 1950’s. His family were active members of the church and found a church home where they served for many years. He enjoyed summer nights as a child with his cousins in the housing development “The Colonial Projects”; where the family resided. He played neighborhood sports locally with the baseball team “Boys of Yester Years” and the football team “Harlem Falcons” until his teenage years. As a teenager he worked at Fits In parking lot, parking cars under the supervision of his late uncle Julian Solomon.
Affectionately known as Lonnie Jr. he became known for his melodic sound and would sing praises to the lord; such songs as “I Can Tell the World” and “The Lord is Blessing Me”. He often amazed friends and loved ones of his ability to sing because the harmonious voice did not match the presence and stature of Lonnie Jr. His ability to sing is an everlasting memory for those who knew and loved him.
In the mid 1980’s Lonnie Reddick Jr. became an employee at Harlem Hospital as an administrator in the patient placement department. He was an engaged employee for 10+ years and was adored by colleagues because of his kind-hearted and giving spirit. Due to unforeseen circumstances forcing an early retirement; Lonnie retired to Liberty, NY where he would live the remainder of his life. In the past 35+ years of his life in Liberty Lonnie Jr. kept in close contact with his aunts Catherine and Lucille; cousins Pamela aka doll face; and Shelton Solomon – they would share annual birthday phone calls on Lonnie’s birthday. Lonnie Reddick Jr. succumbed on February 14, 2021.
Preceding him in death are his late parents Lonnie Sr. and Esther Marie, brother Milton, and nephew Milton Jr. Lonnie Reddick Jr. is survived by 2 maternal aunts Catherine and Lucille; a sister-in-law Anita; 1 niece Nancy; 3 great nieces Ashley, Aaliyah, and Heaven; 1 great nephew Anthony; 2 great-great nieces Amelia and Eliza, 2 great-great nephews Demarion and Nicholas, 6 godchildren Noble, Pharaoh, Honesty, Zion, Infinity & Lamarco, Home Aide Shannon and a host of cousins, friends, and loved ones. Lonnie Reddick Jr. was an old soul, passionate, loyal, and he loved what he loved, and no questions asked!
