Lucy A. Karadontes

Lucy A. Karadontes of Jeffersonville, NY, a retired Teachers Aide for Sullivan County BOCES and a longtime area resident died Sunday, June 21, 2026 at the Garnet Health Hospital in Harris, NY. She was 96.

The daughter of the late Miltiades and Loulla Hadjouanou Demetriou, she was born October 26, 1929 in New York City, NY.

Lucy was a Past President of the Jeff-Youngsville Central School PTA. She was instrumental in organizing the first Brownie Girl Scout Troop in Jeffersonville, NY and she was a member of the Red Hats.

Lucy will always be remembered for her matching outfits head to toe and her kindness to all. Her faith and her Greek heritage was very important in her daily life and to all who knew her.

Survivors include one daughter, Georgia Hart and her husband Kevin of Jeffersonville, NY; one son, Andy Karadontes and his wife Lori of Jeffersonville, NY; three grandchildren, Kali Picard and her husband Christopher of Jeffersonville, NY, Jared Hart and his wife Tina of Jeffersonville, NY, and Alexa Bury and her husband Dan of Jeffersonville, NY; seven great grandchildren, Melina, Braeden, Mya, Rylan, Eli, Luca, and Meadow; one niece, Christine; two nephews, Jimmy and Niko; a sister-in-law, Anne Maus; many friends and her dog, Ouzu. She was predeceased by her husband, Chris Karadontes in 1998 and by brothers-in-law, Pete and Tom and sister-in-law, Mickey.

Visitation will be Friday, June 26, 2026 from 11AM-1PM in the Harris Funeral Home West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 26, 2026 at 1 PM in the funeral Home. Father Chris will officiate.

Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery White Sulphur Springs, NY.
