Margaret "Peggy" A. Vogler

Margaret A. "Peggy" Vogler of Lake Huntington, NY, a retired Operating Room Secretary at Harris Hospital and a lifelong area resident died Friday, October 10, 2025 at the Garnet Health Hospital in Middletown, NY surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was 78.

The daughter of the late John and Josephine DeSevo McDonald, she was born June 15, 1947 in Callicoon, NY.

Peggy was a Communicant of Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Lake Huntington, NY and a member of the Parish Council.  In her so-called 'retirement,' Peggy spent the past decade at Sullivan West High School, cheerfully greeting students and families after school, lending a hand in the office, and—true to form—frequently challenging the copy machine’s patience.  She recently celebrated her 10th year of service there.  With her witty personality, she brought joy to every room she entered.

She loved her frequent trips to the casino, cherished time spent with family, and had a talent for cooking enough food to feed an army—though it was always more than anyone could finish.  Whether she was playing cards, working on puzzles, or simply enjoying the company of loved ones, she made every moment memorable.

Her most cherished achievements and greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. Never missing a holiday, birthday, graduations, sporting event, or recital, 'Nannie' was always there—cheering the loudest and loving the hardest. She was their biggest fan.

Survivors include two daughters, Melissa Avery and her husband Steven of East Greenbush, NY and Christina O'Sullivan of Hankins, NY; one son, Ryan R. Vogler of Cochecton, NY; five grandchildren, Chanlyn and Tyler O’Sullivan, Hayden Avery, Kayleigh and Raegan Vogler; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, David McDonald and Jackie McDonald and by a sister, Janet Hawley.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to those who spent time with her during the day, to her physical therapist whose kindness and care brought her joy, and to the exceptional staff at Garnet Health ICU who fought tirelessly on her behalf.
