Marian Fries

Marian E. Fries of Youngsville, NY, a retired customer service representative for New York State Electric & Gas Co. in Monticello and Liberty, NY, died Wednesday evening, June 7, 2017 at her home in Youngsville, NY.  She was 88.

The daughter of the late Fred A. and Augusta Vakiener Fries she was born May 18, 1929 in Liberty, NY.

Marian was a lifelong area resident.  She was a member of the United Reformed Church of Youngsville where she had served as a Sunday School Teacher, a Deacon, an Elder and had been in the choir.  She was also a member of the of the Women's Fellowship of the church and a member of the Community Garden Club of Liberty.  She will be remembered as an excellent baker and for tending her flower gardens.

Survivors include three nephews, Stephen Smith and his wife Kathi of Neversink, NY, Michael Smith of Liberty, NY and Alan Smith and his wife Susan of New Zealand; four great nephews and several cousins.  She was predeceased by her sister, Edna H. Smith in 2015.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 10, 2017 from 5-8 PM in the Harris Funeral Home West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 1 PM in the funeral home.  The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.

Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery, Youngsville, NY.
