Marion Welton

Marion C. Welton of Cape Vincent, NY formerly of Roscoe, NY, a retired account clerk, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017 at her home. She was 92.

The daughter of the late Theodore R. and Mildred R. Steele, she was born November 23, 1924 in the Town of Rockland.

Marion was a graduate of Livingston Manor Central School; she was a long term employee of the Sullivan County Department of Social Services, a part-owner of A&M Gift Shop in Shandelee and worked with her husband Charles (Preston) Welton on their dairy farm in Shandelee for over 40 years.  She enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Beth A. White of Cape Vincent, NY; her son, David Welton and his wife Dedra of Roscoe, NY; two brothers Luther Steele and his wife Genevieve of Livingston Manor, NY and Vernon R. Steele of Livingston Manor, NY; one sister-in-law, Frances Welton of Livingston Manor, NY; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles (Press) Welton; one daughter, Beverly Colburn; two brothers, Raymond Steele and Alfred (Doc) Steele; one sister, Agnes O. Dreher; brothers in law, Kenneth, Edward and Howard Welton; and one grandson, Scott Turner.

Her family would like to thank Tammy Hanson for her special care during Marion’s illness.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 5 to 8 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.  Funeral services will be Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 10 AM in the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Roscoe, NY.

Memorial contributions in Marion’s name may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham Street, Watertown, NY 13601.
