Marjorie Reed Merrill a home maker and a former resident of Horton Brook, NY, died Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the home of her daughter in Fishers, IN. She was 85.

The daughter of the late Clarence Leslie Reed and Arvilla Edwards Reed O'Conner, she was born June 28, 1926, in Downsville, NY. Marjorie married Eugene Merrill on July 14, 1946 and lived on Horton Brook in Roscoe, NY until a year ago. Marjorie was a member of the Roscoe United Church. She served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher for the Horton Methodist Church and was a member of the Cooks Falls-Horton Women' Auxiliary for many years. She was a gardener at heart and her greatest pleasure was working in her flower gardens. She loved to sew, reading, working in her flower beds, the sun, and simply being outdoors.

Marjorie is survived by two daughters, Dyanne Gomez and her husband Alfred of Fishers, IN and Lucille Freyer of Marion, IL; two sons-in-law, Paul Taber of Downsville and Thomas Klinegardner of Roscoe; four grandchildren, Nicholas Freyer and his wife Fantasia of Carbondale, IL, Leslie Irwin and her husband David of Roscoe, Christina Gomez of Long Beach, CA, and Michael Klinegardner and his wife Nissa of Saucier, MS; three great-grandchildren, Dylon, Daniel, and Emily Irwin; one brother, Lynn Reed of Houston, TX; one brother-in-law Phil Merrill; three sisters-in-law, Vivian Merrill of Roscoe, Alice Blackman of Hamden, and Dawn Merrill of Binghamton; many beloved nieces and nephews and special friend Laura Jennings.

Marjorie was predeceased by husband, Eugene, in 2009; two daughters, Lorna Taber and Mary Lynne Klinegardner; and one granddaughter, Kelly Klinegardner; two brothers, Burton Reed and Lyman Reed; three brothers-in-law, John Merrill, Howard Merrill, and Gerard Merrill; three sisters-in-law, Emily Reed, Mamie Reed, and Orel Merrill; and her step-father, Francis O'Conner.

Services for Marjorie will be held at a later date.
