Mary Jane Tyler

Mary J. Tyler, 97, of Youngsville, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026, in West Lafayette, IN.

Born on January 30, 1929, in Luzerne County, PA, Mary was the daughter of the late Ernest and Eva Brigham. She loved working with children and served for many years as a Special Education teacher’s aide at BOCES in Liberty, NY.

Mary lived in Youngsville until 2018, later splitting her time between Indiana and North Carolina. She was a woman of many passions; she loved horses, reading Amish literature, and watching her favorite show, Heartland. A gifted seamstress, Mary spent countless hours creating doll clothes, Christmas ornaments, and clothing for children, leaving behind a legacy of handmade treasures.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of many years, Edwin A. Tyler, in 2010; her sons, Lawrence A. Tyler and Robin L. Tyler; her sisters, Beatrice Baston and Beryl Keesler; and her brothers, Ernest, Chet, and Arthur Brigham. Mary’s memory will be cherished by her surviving family: her daughter, Carol Robisch of Garner, NC; her son, Dr. Jim Tyler and his wife, Dr. Jen Neville of Lafayette, IN; and her daughters-in-law, Orra Tyler of Woodbourne, NY, and Linda Tyler of White Sulphur Springs, NY. She also leaves behind a remarkable legacy of 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday March 21, 2026 from 11 AM to 1 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY. Funeral services will begin at 1 Pm in the funeral home.
