Mary Linda Kalin of Parksville, NY, formerly of Orange County, NY, a retired Unit Secretary at the Newton Hospital in Newton, NJ, passed peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at Achieve Rehab. and Nursing Facility in Liberty, NY. She was 89.
The daughter of the late Thomas and Rose Durr McGrath, she was born September 12, 1936 in Forest City, Pennsylvania.
Mary was famous for the love she put into her baking, especially her homemade fudge. She worked for over 28 years at the Newton Hospital and was known for all the cakes and sweets she brought in for the doctors. She will be remembered for having taken good care of everyone.
Mary is survived by her children, Wanda Shay Knight and her husband David of Pennsville, NJ, Catherine Moore and her husband Jerry of Johnsonburg, NJ, James Stevens of Franklin, NJ, and Robert Stevens of Middletown, NY; her 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 7 great great-grandchildren; and her sister, Cora Stark of Dover, NJ.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Vince Kalin Sr., a son Thomas Stevens, and a grandson Jamie Shay.
At this time, the family has chosen to celebrate Mary’s life privately.
Dignified cremation is being provided by Harris Crematorium, LLC.
